Latex gloves
Latex gloves are also called rubber gloves, latex is a natural material, taken from the sap of rubber trees, natural latex is a biosynthetic product, due to different tree species, geology, climate and other related conditions, its composition and structure often appear greatly different. In fresh latex without any added substances, rubber hydrocarbons account for only 20%-40% of the total, and the remaining small amount is non-rubber components and water. Non-rubber components include proteins, lipids, sugars and inorganic components, which are partially composite with rubber particles, and some are dissolved in whey or form non-rubber particles.
Because latex gloves contain protein, it is easy for people with allergies to have allergic reactions.
Latex gloves are usually divided into powder ordinary type and powder purification type, smooth and hemp surface anti-slip type. Powder-free latex gloves are mainly for the convenience of putting on and taking off, but industries such as food, precision electronics manufacturing or medical have high environmental requirements and often use powder-free latex gloves.
Nitrile gloves
The material of nitrile gloves belongs to a kind of synthetic rubber, the main components are acrylonitrile and butadiene, which are the key materials for organic synthesis and pharmaceutical intermediates. Because they do not contain proteins, amino compounds and other harmful substances, they rarely cause allergies.
The presence of butadiene monomer in nitrile gloves guarantees tactile sensitivity for the wearer. In addition, due to their good thermal conductivity, nitrile gloves also fit the hand shape more easily, which provides excellent flexibility for the wearer, especially for laboratory personnel who need to operate some delicate instruments or tools.
And nitrile gloves because of their silicone-free components, has a certain antistatic performance, less surface chemical residues, low ion content, small particle content, so it is very suitable for strict clean room environment.
Compare the two, how to choose?
Latex gloves and nitrile gloves are degradable materials, easy to handle, and conducive to environmental protection.
Comparing the various characteristics of gloves of the two materials, it can be found that the toughness and wear resistance of latex gloves are slightly inferior to nitrile gloves, but latex gloves are softer and have better comfort, and the elasticity is also better than nitrile gloves.
However, because nitrile materials are much better resistant to chemicals and acids and alkalis than latex, nitrile gloves are usually chosen for experimenters who need to be exposed to various chemical reagents.
And compared to latex gloves, nitrile gloves are three to five times more puncture resistant than latex, and for dentists who need to use sharp tools, the use of durable nitrile gloves can create a safer barrier in contact with patients.
Because the "hard wounds" of latex protein allergy cannot be eradicated, the use of latex gloves is easily restricted. Nitrile gloves have more advantages in some functions, such as better puncture resistance, stronger chemical resistance, etc., so in terms of price, nitrile gloves are usually higher than latex gloves.
